Ending the Year With Great News

The end of the year has finally arrived and so much has happened since Project. B. started its first rehearsal May 2010.  Just to recap the year, we've performed at the Garage, Central Market Arts Festival, and StageDor Dance.  Most recently we performed at the Garage in a shared show with two of my dancers, Mayuko Hosoai and Chin-chin Hsu who each choreographed a solo.

Project. B. has expanded its repertory to two pieces (Triquetra and souterrain) since the beginning of our residency at the Garage and also expanded the number of dancers from three to five as well as two understudies.  Our most recent performance was a great success and am looking forward to starting a new work in January 2011.  And now that I've started this blog, I hope to give more insight about the process for this new work.

A lot of sweat and tears were shed in and out of the studio in creating Project. B.  Along with the hard work of the dancers, there are several artistic contributors that made all of this possible.  Graphic Artist and husband, Marco Gallerizzo, Photographer, Margo Moritz as well as so many artists and choreographers in the community that have advised me, pushed me, and told me time and time again that I can do this.  So thank you to Joe Landini, Amara Tabor-Smith, Manuelito Biag, Janice Garrett, Charles Moulton, KT Nelson, Kimi Okada, Wayne Hazzard, and Juan Carlos Rincones, among many others.  Their words mean so much especially when you question your worth day in and day out.

And to end on a great note, I heard back from the Zellerbach Family Foundation and was granted $1000 for my new work Moveable Feast which will be shown for Project. B.'s first solo show on May 10 and 11, 2011.   I also received two shared evenings with Nol Simonse through Dance Mission's Down and Dirty Series for July 29 and 30, 2011.

It seems that the new year will be filled with so much creativity for Project. B.  I want to thank my dancers for all of their hard work and support as well as to all the donors whose 2010 contribution matched the project budget to make Moveable Feast a reality.  Please follow us in the next couple of months to see what we are up to in the studio.  We begin rehearsals January 8, 2011.  So please stay tuned to the developments of the creative process of Moveable Feast.

Happy Holidays!
